dorothy + peter: wedding in silverthorne, co

one of the best things about being a wedding photographer is getting to reconnect with old friends i otherwise wouldn’t get to see. dorothy is a friend from high school that i’ve only seen a handful of times over the years, and it was so special to be able to be there for her big day. weddings always serve as a mini reunion, and it was great to catch up with some high school friends i hadn’t seen since we graduated (nine years ago now!)

dorothy and pete had an intimate ceremony at the raven three peaks nestled in the colorado mountains. i was lucky enough to get to spend a few days in denver & surrounding areas for a few days and absolutely fell in love with colorado. i’ll definitely be back!

esther + jay: engagement in anaheim hills, ca

today i’m excited to share an engagement shoot for two of my dearest friends and one of my absolute favorite couples. i’ve known both of them since before they were dating when we went to college together at UCSD, and it has been an incredible journey seeing them grow up together as they went through college, work, and grad school, navigating between portland and san diego. i’m so fortunate to have stayed in touch with them and was honored when they asked me to do an engagement shoot for them during one of their visits to LA.

esther and jay were married this past sunday in a beautiful ceremony that i got to witness as a guest. although i was itching to be behind the camera at times, it was priceless seeing jay’s expression as esther walked down the aisle and listening to the heartfelt vows they wrote. there was literally not a dry eye in the house.

congratulations you two :)

the following photo is so precious: the one on the left is of jay’s parents from 1979. but the funniest thing is that we had NO idea when we shot the one on the right! two generations of mr. and mrs. yoos.

shivan + charith: wedding at merchants exchange, san francisco

this wedding is long, long overdue, but i couldn’t skip  it because it’s truly one of the coolest weddings i’ve gotten to help shoot. the whole event was a feast of colors, hosted at an architectural gem, the merchants exchange building. the julia morgan ballroom on the 15th floor is a breathtaking venue to have a reception. my favorite part? the wedding party parade from the hotel to the ceremony.

many thanks to hannah suh for having me along! check her out, her work is absolutely gorgeous.

feetfirst + blogshop

last week i had the amazing opportunity to help out at feetfirst + blogshop, hosted by our labor of love, max wanger, bri emery, and angela kohler. it was such an eye-opening experience and i had a great time meeting the photographers as well as bloggers that i’ve long admired. everyone was so warm, open, and honest about their journey getting to where they are, and it really challenged me to remember why i’m doing this and to define who i want to be. i’m really excited to take my work to the next level.

here’s a peek at their beautiful studio in atwater where the workshop was held (steph pointed out to me that it was featured on apartment therapy)!

the lovely alison and zach did a great job modeling for us.

throughout the three days, we were so fortunate to have our lunches catered by heirloom. i’d been wanting to try their food for awhile since their lasagna cupcakes are all the rage in LA. on friday they brought out their newly constructed taco stand to serve gourmet pasta. the verdict? definitely the best catering i’ve ever had. i’m already coming up with excuses to host a party just so i can have those lasagna cupcakes again!

huge thanks to bri for giving me this opportunity, and margaux for being the all-around sweetest person to work with!

olive + gourmando (montreal, quebec)

one of my favorite things about pinterest? it helps me visually discover amazing little spots that i can bookmark for my travels. next time you’re traveling, skip google and use pinterest’s search for some great curated finds. it’s also a photographer’s dream for scouting cool spots to shoot. (follow me here!)

i found olive + gourmando on pinterest shortly before our east coast trip last year, and it’s easily one of my favorite places that i’ve ever eaten at. situated on the edges of cobblestoned old montreal, it’s an adorable bakery serving delicate pastries and simple food made from the freshest ingredients (the quebecois, like the french, do not mess around when it comes to food). my favorite? the housemade ricotta with roasted tomatoes and herbs. i still replicate this recipe often for breakfast at home.

more on montreal soon!
